Depending on the application either a robot or a tripod with a colorimeter head is employed in color measurement.
In order to detect possible color differences, the colorimeter head first measures the light reflected from the master sample from different angles, based on a light produced by a reference light source.
In this set-up every possible measurement angle can be chosen. After the acquisition of reference data the colorimeter head measures the area under inspection at previously determined measuring points. Whether the areas are even or curved does not make any differerence as the colorimeter head reliably adapts to every possible situation.
The measuring time to one second as well as the high repeat accuracy are truly outstanding hallmarks of the system. The acquired measuring data are processed on a PC with the help of a software especially developed for this purpose. Here data are compared with the previously memorized primary sample and are automatically checked if they comply with pre-set tolerances.
All measuring data are converted to Lab color space and stored on a data base. Via the software measured values and master samples can be exported to other data base systems. Global networking with other production locations or suppliers is thus no longer a problem.
Complaints because of color deviations belong to the past.
The system has been acknowledged by the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM).
